When advising clients on purchasing luxury properties on the Costa Blanca, our conversations go beyond just the property’s features, financial details, or technical aspects. Luxury means different things to different people, and these are some of the key elements we consider when finding the perfect home.
A luxury villa is not just about the finishes; it’s about blending into its environment, capturing the light, the breeze, and the landscape. The way light shifts throughout the day in your future home can greatly impact your experience of it.
The key question I always ask my clients is: What kind of lifestyle do you envision in this space? Whether it’s a retreat offering privacy and serenity or a place for entertainment and social connection, a luxury home should elevate the life you want to live and create a balance with nature.
In a previous blog, I mentioned how ancient cultures of the Costa Blanca, like the Iberians and Romans, lived closely connected to nature. They chose locations thoughtfully — hills for safety, river valleys for water, and coastal plains for fertile soil and breezes. Their architecture used local materials like stone and clay and was designed to capture the sunlight and adapt to the seasons.
This philosophy still matters today. In summer, we seek shade and coolness, but in winter, a home should wake up and fall asleep with the sun, enhancing natural energy and well-being. The ancient Romans also embraced gardens and spaces for relaxation and health, leaving behind a timeless model of harmonious living.
You can still find traces of their villas in places like Alicante, El Campello, Denia, Altea, Villajoyosa, or Calpe — areas that remain among the most desirable for a reason. Their natural beauty and perfect alignment with the environment continue to inspire modern living.
