How Many Golf Courses Are in the Region?

Today, Costa Blanca and Murcia together boast over 40 golf courses, including some of my favourites:

• Costa Blanca – around 25, such as Las Ramblas, Las Colinas, La Finca, Villamartin, La Marquesa, Lo Romero, Vistabella, Bonalba, and Alicante Golf

• Murcia / Costa Cálida – about 20, including La Manga Club, Roda Golf, El Valle, Hacienda Riquelme, La Torre, and New Sierra

This dense concentration attracts not only amateurs but also pro golfers who choose the region to train or compete in exceptional events.

Jack Nicklaus Courses in Murcia

Several courses in Murcia were designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, known worldwide for both his iconic golf career and his course architecture. His creations — El Valle Golf Resort, Hacienda Riquelme, and La Torre — stand out with challenging layouts, desert-like terrain, and stunning views reminiscent of top American courses.

Built mainly between the early 2000s and 2010s, these courses fueled a boom in golf tourism and real estate development. Around them, vibrant communities of luxury villas, gated neighborhoods, and holiday apartments have emerged, attracting both domestic and international investors, raising property values, and shaping a lifestyle centered on sport, leisure, and investment.

Jack Nicklaus’s legacy in Murcia is as much about real estate and tourism as it is about golf.
